John Boos Board Cream & Mystery Oil
John Boos
The Perfect Remedy For Your Thirsty Board
Wood gets “thirsty” -- it gets dry -- drying can lead to cracking and deterioration -- cutting boards and butcher block surfaces are no exception -- protect your investment with regular applications of either Boos Board Cream or Boos Mystery Oil.
Frequency of application will depend upon how often you use your board and how you clean it -- for example, wiping with a damp cloth versus using hot water. Other factors to consider are weather conditions such as humidity and heat during the different seasons of the year.
John Boos generally recommends protecting and moisturizing your board every 3 to 4 weeks.
But ... WHICH TO CHOOSE
-- Board Creme or Mystery Oil?
Both products are food safe, effective, and do similar jobs -- protecting and prolonging the life of your board. You may use either product individually or you can use both products together if desired; perhaps using the oil first and then putting on a protective layer of cream.
Boos Block
Board Cream
All Natural -- Deeply Penetrating -- Moisture Locking -- Enhances the beauty of your board's color and sleek appeal.
Board Cream contains a natural, unbleached beeswax combined with a food-grade mineral oil formula. Board Cream is a denser, thicker product than Mystery Oil, gives a protective layer to the board against food and moisture, and provides a finish that enhances longevity. Beeswax does not evaporate as quickly as oil.
RECOMMENDED USE:
Apply the Board Creme directly onto the cutting board surface and massage by hand into the grains and let it sit overnight. Then remove excess with a paper towel.
Boos Block
Mystery Oil
For care of boards & blocks that are used as a working, cutting surface -- designed to give your John Boos products the same quality finish as the factory and keep them looking new.
Mystery Oil is a food-grade mixture of mineral oil, linseed oil, & orange oil. It is a thinner product than the Board Cream, is more easily absorbed, and goes further into the grain of the wood to help restore it.
RECOMMENDED USE:
Apply a generous amount of Mystery Oil and let it sit overnight and see how it looks in the morning. Add more oil if necessary if there are dry spots.
